Why do we need to learn healthy cooking?

By Dr. Namrata Lohade, Consultant Nutritionist at the other song Clinic - Care Beyond Compare

Many of us have experienced the joy of being self-sufficient, independent when we learn art of cooking. We need not depend on anyone else for food even no matter where we live.
The quickest cooking options are ready to eat food packets instant noodles, tea, coffee etc. But are these easy and quick options healthy?

Many of us may be good cooks, but are we really aware of what ingredients we add to our food?

Are we aware of the way of cooking?

Whether it’s really healthy and nourishing?

When it comes to healthy cooking, it is generally assumed that it includes cooking tasteless, bland food. But this is just a myth. If made in a proper manner, healthy food can be pleasing to our senses and delicious.

The kitchen is our laboratory, wherein we keep on experimenting with different kinds of ingredients to create new dishes. If you add one wrong chemical or if the procedure goes wrong the resulting reactions can be harmful! If we use unhealthy stuff to cook food or if the procedure goes wrong, there will be harmful reactions in your body! It is therefore important to learn and practice the art of healthy cooking.

“WE ARE WHAT WE EAT” truly explains the growing incidences of a variety of lifestyle related illnesses. We are thus left with the choice of food that we cook and eat, thus giving us a choice of what we want to become. For those who cook for their family and loved ones “The family is what we cook for them”. In healthy cooking lies the secret to a healthy future.
Cook healthy, be healthy & keep others healthy!
