A 40-year-old man came to the clinic along with his wife, with a huge vesicular eruption on his face, which was observed when he removed his glares. The wife appeared very anxious for her husband. The eruption was on the left side of the face covering the left eye, which appeared red and shiny. As a result of the eruption and the discharge he was just not able to open his left eye. The eyelids appeared stuck to each other as if glued. He also experienced a lot of pain as a result of the eruption. He was suggested a course of anti-viral by an allopathic doctor which he didn’t want to go for and as a result of which he came to us. The eruption that he had was as a result of Herpes infection. Herpes is a viral infection caused by the Herpes simplex virus. The infection can occur in any part of the body, and can spread from one person to another through direct contact.
He described his condition as something he had never experienced before. It was just darkness before his eyes.
I asked him how had all this started?
He said he had traveled a lot in the past few days and was constantly on the run as a result of the work his job demanded. He was very exhausted due to all this travelling along with the stress filled work. He appeared very restless physically. While sitting, he frequently got up and moved around in the consulting room.
I asked him many questions as regards to his complaints and tried understanding as to how was he affected by this. The only question that he repeatedly asked me was, “Doctor will I be able to open my eye and see again?”
All that I could gather is a person with a lot of restlessness, anxiety and the main thing being too much of exertion and hectic schedules along with the eruption on his face which made it impossible to even open up his eye. On all the information I prescribed him a homoeopathic remedy that covered all his symptoms and complaints. His pain and swelling reduced considerably within the next 48 hours, by almost 70%. When he came for his follow up visit, he appeared calm and relaxed. He smilingly said, “Doctor it feels so good to finally be able to see after 7 days of darkness”.
